Private Well Water

Know What’s in Your Water — Protect Your Home and Family

If your property relies on a private well, you’re responsible for the safety of your own drinking water. Unlike public systems, private wells are not monitored by the state — so regular testing is the only way to ensure your water is clean, safe, and free from harmful contaminants.

At Princeton Analytical Labs, we make that process simple. Our team provides certified testing laboratory services for homeowners and businesses throughout Pennsylvania. We handle everything from sample collection to laboratory analysis, so you can have complete confidence in your water quality and peace of mind for your family.

What’s Included

  • Standard Safety Panel – Tests for coliform and E. coli bacteria, the most common indicators of contamination from surface runoff, septic systems, or plumbing issues.
  • Comprehensive Chemical Screening – Measures metals (like lead, iron, manganese), nitrates, nitrites, hardness, pH, and other key water-quality parameters that can affect health, taste, and plumbing.
  • Well Maintenance & Baseline Testing – Recommended after any new well installation, repair, flooding event, or noticeable change in water color, odor, or taste.
  • Specialized Testing – Optional expanded panels for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), PFAS, arsenic, or radiological elements depending on your property’s location and geological factors.
  • Professional Sampling & Courier Service – We provide contactless sample pickup or on-site collection, ensuring your test meets all state chain-of-custody and handling standards.
  • Clear, Easy-to-Read Results – Each report icludes your lab results, reference safety limits (EPA/DEP guidelines), and straightforward explanations of what they mean for your home.

How Often Should You Test?

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. EPA both recommend testing at least once a year for bacteria and nitrates, and more often if you notice changes in water quality, have an infant at home, or your well is near agricultural or industrial areas.
